Local media say that Nicola Zalewski is the latest football player to be linked to the betting investigation. Several Serie A players have already been caught.
There are two teams that Zalewski plays for: Roma in Serie A and the Polish national team.
The Roma Press also said that Zalewski was going back to the Polish U21 Squad after having some "personal and professional problems." This was before he was linked to the scandal.
Athletes in Serie A can bet on sports, but not on their own sport, and the sites they use must be legal.
Nicolò Fagioli, an Italian football player for both Juventus and the Italian national team, was the first person the police looked into.
It is said that Fagioli may have broken federal laws by betting on sites that aren't allowed.
As of this writing, not many details have been made public. If he is found guilty, he could get a three-year ban and a fine of at least €25,000 ($26,507).
But Fagioli wasn't the only football player being looked into. The Turin Public Prosecutor's Office is also looking into Italian football players Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo.
Because of this, both players have been kicked off the Italian national team. The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said in a statement that this is because they are not healthy enough to play in the upcoming games.

To have fun and be safe while gambling, it is important to gamble properly. Never risk more than you can afford to lose; instead, plan ahead and play within your means. To keep your head on straight and not chase your losses, take frequent breaks. Get a feel for the odds and remember that gambling is more of a pastime than a means to an end. Never gamble when under the influence of alcohol or stress, and be sure to keep track of your spending and time. Seek assistance from support groups or think about self-exclusion measures if gambling becomes harmful or stops being enjoyable.
